This demo version has a 5 minutes limited flight time and includes only 2 of 28 available sceneries. It lacks 2 of the 15 situations and the ability to save a setup.
3D Acceleration Hardware
Virtual Wings has been tested with the following cards:
･ Apple QuickDraw 3D Accelerator Card
Due to a limitation of this card you may see some flickering of ground objects like runways and lakes.
･ ATI XClaim VR and XClaim 3D
Virtual Wings uses a special feature for applying haze on textures, which is currently not supported by the ATI cards. Since haze is important for Virtual Wings, it does not draw textures with these cards. We are in contact with ATI to resolve this problem. However, 3D graphics will be shown in thousands of colors with improved haze effects.
･ Most of the other available cards should run but have not been tested by us up to now. We will publish more information on our web site <www.cat3.com> as soon as we have evaluated these cards.
CH Products Joysticks
Virtual Wings takes advantage of new features of CH Products drivers and therefore requires the latest version of the Jetstick and Flightstick Pro control panels. V1.3.1 of these control panels is located in the ﾒJoystick Settingsﾓ folder on the Virtual Wings CD-ROM. The mouse mode settings in the control panels are not used.
Performance Considerations
The best performance can be achieved by using MacOS 7.6 and disabling unnecessary system extensions. If you are using System 7.5.2 or lower, install Sound Manager 3.2 or Apple's latest System Update.
